So you’re planning a dream vacation to heli ski and you want it all to be perfect. You are not alone. We have many inquiries every year from people wanting to know the best time to come. Of course, we have great skiing at any time of year, and with us, you will always have more fun than you can possibly imagine. So when is the best time to come: When is the best snow? How about longer days? When can I have a blue bird powder day? The real answer lies in what you value.
Ahhhh - the early season.
Why would I ski in December or early January when the days are a little shorter?
The holiday season has fast become the best know secret in heli-skiing. It is many people’s favorite time to come. Snow has been falling since October, and when the resorts are clamoring down with reams of people, our terrain sits quietly, in a cold blanket of deep light snow, waiting for those who have chosen to escape the lifts.
‘Cold Smoke’ is a good way to describe our early season conditions. The temperatures tend to be colder (a daily average of -9°C) than other times of the year, and that means deep, dry, champagne powder all day long.
In addition, the cold temps and limited solar radiation allow us to ski the longer south aspects more than any other time of the year. These are beautiful fall line descents that make you scream: MORE!!
Visit us in the early season and see why so many think early January is the best time to come!
